We process personal data to provide Gmail Chats, authenticate users, manage subscriptions, and comply with law.

Gmail Chats extension — what we do not store

Gmail Chats is a Chrome extension with a chat overlay on Gmail. We do not store email body, subject, snippets, attachment binary, or thread participants derived from mail content on our servers. That content is cached locally in your browser (IndexedDB) and accessed via Google Gmail API.

What we store on our backend

• Your product account (email from Google sign-in, user id)
• Subscription and trial status (Lava billing)
• Extension telemetry without email content (version, last seen)
• Referral program metadata (invite codes, plan grants) when applicable

Gmail API

The extension requests Gmail API scopes to read threads, build local chats, display labels, and send replies through Gmail. Authorization is between you and Google; we do not receive your Gmail password.

Chrome extension permissions

• storage — preferences, session token, enable/disable overlay
• mail.google.com — inject the chat overlay
• identity / Gmail OAuth — connect your Gmail account (phased rollout)
